Inappropriate Behavior Requiring Administrative Intervention
1. CUTTING CLASS / ATTENDANCE / TRUANCY
Students are expected to attend classes daily. Unexcused absences, those not excused by a parent, guardian, or
school personnel, will result in consequences that accumulate over time and may result in a truancy hearing. See
Board Policy 5113 for summative consequences and Attendance Office Policies for excusing absences.
2. DISRUPTION
Intentional acts, behaviors, or conduct that occur beyond the classroom that interfere with an orderly environment
during common student time such as tutorial, lunch, any school sponsored activity will not be tolerated. This includes
the use of any oral or written rude or disrespectful comments or gestures toward another student.
3. FAILURE TO ATTEND A DETENTION
Failure to attend detention will result in additional consequences.
4. LEAVING CAMPUS WITHOUT PERMISSION
LGHS is not an open campus. Students may not leave campus at any time without permission with the exception of
lunchtime for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Freshmen are to remain on campus at all times through the first
semester. Open lunch privileges begin for freshmen at the start of the second semester.
5. PARKING VIOLATIONS
Students who violate parking regulations will receive Level II consequences. Students who receive repeated parking
violations might lose parking privileges.
6. REPEATED LEVEL I OFFENSES
Students who continue to demonstrate Level I offenses and interfere with the orderly environment of the classroom
after teacher intervention will receive consequences described for Level II offenses.
7. RIDING SKATEBOARDS, BIKES, AND ROLLERBLADES OR SKATES ON CAMPUS
The school encourages and appreciates students using alternative sources of transportation to travel to and from
school. In order to ensure the safety and health of others, riding skateboards, bikes, rollerblades or any other
alternative mode of transportation on wheels while on campus at any time is not permitted. Students are required to
dismount the board, bike, etc. at the edge of campus and walk with it onto campus. The same is true for leaving
campus. Students should walk the board, bike, etc. to the edge of campus and then mount and leave. Students are
strongly encouraged to store and lock up their board, bike, etc. in the designated areas on campus or in the house
offices if so desired.
8. UNCOOPERATIVE BEHAVIOR / HORSEPLAY / SCUFFLING
Engaging in inappropriate or uncooperative behavior toward a staff member or other students at school or at a
school-related activity. This includes repeated classroom disruptions and horseplay, obnoxious and loud behavior,
mild shoving, pushing between students not resulting in an argument or conflict.
CONSEQUENCES FOR LEVEL II OFFENSES:
FIRST OFFENSE: One to three detentions.
SECOND OFFENSE: One to three Saturday Schools.
SUBSEQUENT OFFENSES: Determined by house principal, could include up to 3 days of suspension.
Depending on the nature of the violation and the number of previous interventions, the house principal may
increase the level of the offense.
